Fritz Kreisler (February 2, 1875 – January 29, 1962) was an Austrian violinist and composer, one of the best known of his day.

Kreisler was innate around Vienna. He exposed at a conservatory there & around Paris, where his teachers involved Léo Delibes, Joseph Hellmesberger, Joseph Massart, and Jules Massenet. He processed his 1st tour of Usa inside 1888–89, then returned to Austrithe & applied for a position in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He was turned down, & left music to survey number 1 medicine, so painting. He spent the brief period in the army prior to giving to the fiddle 1899, giving a concert sustaining the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Arthur Nikisch. It was this concert & the series of Western tours from either 1901 to 1903 that brought him real eclat.

Within 1910, Kreisler gave the premiere of Edward Elgar's Violin Concerto, a act dedicated to him. He briefly served around the Austrian Army in World War I before being honorably freed fallowing he was maimed. He spent a unexpended years of the war inside America. He returned to Europe around 1924, living 1st withwithin Berlin, so moving to France in 1938. Shortly thenceforth, he settled agawithin in United states of americthe, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1943. He sleep in that united states for the rest of his life. He gave his survive public concert around 1947 and broadcasted performances for a few years fallowing that. He died within New York City in 1962.

Kreisler wrote the total of pieces for the fiddle, a select few of the children in the style of more composers. Numerous one works were originally ascribed to earliest composers like Gaetano Pugnani and Giuseppe Tartini until Kreisler revealed in 1935 that it were actually by him. After critics complained, Kreisler answered that critics experienced already deemed a compositions worthy: "The name changes, the value remains". He besides wrote operettas (including Apple Blossoms (1919)), a string quartet and cadenzas, including one for the Johannes Brahms Violin Concerto. His cadenza for Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto is the one virtually all typically listed by fiddler now.

He owned fiddle by Guarnerius and Bergonzi. A latter became called a Kreisler Bergonzi.
